The rising price of gasoline has produced a surge of products that promise to provide relief at the gas pump. Unfortunately, most of them are rip-offs! Some are even dangerous, to your health or to your car.In May of 2006, Texas based BioPerformance, Inc., was shut down by the Attorney General for being an illegal pyramid scheme. The company's product, a pill for the gas tank that was supposed to increase gas mileage, was found to be chemically equivalent to mothballs, which are toxic.Even though both company and product were complete frauds, each still drew a large crowd. To promote BioPerformance and suck people into the illegal pyramid scheme (which was disguised as multi-level marketing), the company sponsored big, pep-rally like seminars around the country. At the seminars, people who paid lots of money to have the privilege to sell the little gas pill were encouraged to believe in the product and its ability to make money, despite the fact the BioPerformance bottle had a disclaimer in tiny print: "BioPerformance, Inc., doesn't guarantee anyone any results"To further encouraged people, the president of BioPerformance, a pastor named Llowel Mims, adopted the benevolent position of announcing his goal to make at least 1,000 participants in the BioPerformance company millionaires. Playing on patriotism, the company promoted the pill as "All American" because it is a way to lessen dependence on the Middle Eastern oil countries and help the environment. When it comes down to laboratory tests though, BioPerformance's pill doesn't measure up to the claims. In fact, it has actually been proven to hurt car engines. That's a far cry from the "All American" product celebrated at the seminars. The bottom line in this is that if it's too good to be true and hasn't been backed up by numerous independent studies, than it's probably a scam.
Car fires account for 17 percent of all reported fires and 13 percent of all civilian fire deaths, according to the National Fire Protection Association. More than two-thirds of vehicle fires result from mechanical or electrical failures or malfunctions, compared to only 3 percent from collisions or rollovers.More than a quarter million vehicle fires occur every year."In 2004, vehicle fires caused more deaths than apartment fires," said NFPA President James M. Shannon. "The public needs to be more aware of this serious fire safety issue and take measures to lessen the risk of an incident."AAA is urging drivers to get a comprehensive vehicle maintenance inspection if they have not had one in the past year, and to be especially alert to damaged wiring and loose electrical connections, worn or blistered fluid lines, leaking connections, severely worn brake components and damaged heat shields."Although drivers may believe fires occur mostly from collisions, this is not true. Many more are caused by failed vehicle components that could have been maintained or repaired prior to causing or accelerating a fire," said AAA President Robert L. Darbelnet. To reduce the risk of a vehicle fire, AAA recommends the following:* Have your vehicle inspected at least annually by a professional technician. As a public service, AAA inspects and approves thousands of repair facilities in the U.S. and Canada as part of the AAA Approved Auto Repair program. Names and locations of AAA-approved repair businesses can be found at www.aaa.com.* Check for wear and tear. Watch for fluid leaks under vehicles, cracked or blistered hoses or wiring that is loose, has exposed metal or has cracked insulation. Have any of these conditions inspected and repaired as soon as possible.* Be alert to changes in the way your vehicle sounds when running, or to a visible plume of exhaust coming from the tailpipe. A louder than usual exhaust tone, smoke coming from the tailpipe or a backfiring exhaust could mean problems or damage to the high-temperature exhaust and emission control system on the vehicle. Have vehicles inspected and repaired as soon as possible if exhaust or emission control problems are suspected. If your vehicle catches fire, firefighters recommend that you stop, pull to the side of the road and turn off the ignition. Do not open the hood because more oxygen can make the fire larger and exposes you to a sudden flare-up.Make sure everyone gets out of the vehicle, move at least 100 feet away and call for help. Never return to the vehicle to fight the fire yourself.
So, you want to have your car transported a specific location huh? And this is your first time? You must be tentative because youve never done this before and you dont want anything to go wrong, especially due to the significant investment your car has been. Transporting your automobile doesnt have to be a nightmare. A thorough understanding of how it works will help you ease your mind of the problems that may result of such. 1. TrailersThere are many transport trailer options, the most popular among these types is the open carrier transport. The open carrier transport, aside from being popular, is the least expensive mode of transporting automobiles. Usually, your automobile will be transported on haulers like the ones used to deliver new cars. These trailers have a capacity of eight to ten cars. They are around 80 feet long and 14 feet high. With their immense size they are limited to traveling on major roads that are free of possible obstacles such as trees and such. They are also limited to traveling on roads that can support its weight. These trailers cannot maneuver easily on tight turns. This is a good way to transport automobiles - the only downside is that your car may not be that well protected against the elements, dust, and wear and tear usually associated with highway travel. 2. Enclosed Trailer TransportThis is by far the most expensive option but all that cost is worth it because your car will likely be in better shape than if it were transported via an open transport carrier. This type of transport is the best for rare, exotic, or expensive cars. Automobiles to be displayed during car shows are usually traveled using this type of transport. It provides the safest, most secure method of auto transport. 3. Self-TransportThere are other people who prefer to transport their vehicles themselves. This is the riskiest way to transport your vehicle, especially if you are unskilled in such operations. Usually this is performed by renting a trailer and driving the trailer yourself. If you do choose this type of transport, you may want to learn more about the trailer and its operation. You should ask the owner for instruction and hints on operating such an automobile.- Always discuss your automobile with the transport service before you agree to the terms- Make sure the service knows what your car looks like, its dimensions, and possible problems that may be encountered when delivering- Make sure everything is understood before closing the deal4. Be aware of the pick up time and transport timePick up time is the amount of time it takes from receipt of the order to transport until your automobile is loaded unto the trailer. This time is usually 2 and 10 days. Transport services appreciate a three day allowance to find a trailer and assign your car to that trailer. Transit time will take about 8-10 days. This depends on the destination and route taken. These trailers will usually carry about ten automobiles at the same time. And as me makes the necessary stops to deliver each automobile, he could use up a lot of time. So, it would do well to be patient during these times. There are also deals such as guaranteed delivery and express service. These deals will make sure your car gets delivered earlier, but will cost much more. If money is no question, then by all means use every method possible to keep your automobile safe and secure.

Water will restore the radish to its previous splendor. Conclusion:Here, I have presented only a few of the more practical actions you should follow to ensure that the food you and your family consume remains fresh and tasty.
How are Motorcycle Batteries Rated? The amp/hour (AH) capacity is the basis for rating motorcycle batteries. For example, a 12AH battery can produce one amp of current flow for 12 hours, or two amps for six hours. In order to calculate the amount of time needed to use up a fully charged motorcycle battery by turning the lights on, we have to take power in watts, and divide it by voltage, which gives us the current draw in Amps. Therefore, a 72 watts beam and tail together, divided by 12 volts equals a 6-amp draw. So in 2 hours, the 12AH battery is dead.Checking Motorcycle Battery:If you decide to check if your new motorcycle battery is done correctly, follow this actual factory-recommended service procedure. If the battery is not a maintenance-free type which doesn't have a vent tube, unwrap the battery, unkink the vent tube and snip about a half-inch off the end. Fill it with electrolyte midway (between the high and low level markings on the case) and leave it undisturbed for one or two hours. Remember, the battery will still be at only 65% of full charge at this point. Add electrolyte again if required. If your battery is a refillable lead-antimony type, it should be charged at one-third of its rated capacity in amp/hours for four to five hours to get it to full charge. Maintenance-free type battery should be charged with a constant-current charger that can drive the charge with as much as 16.9 volts. This should be closely supervised so as not to exceed full charge.Next, recheck the electrolyte level and add water if required. Let the battery cool so the case contracts enough to fit into its typically tight little holder. Run the new breather tube, if the battery comes along with one, carefully through the original factory routing.Things to Remember when Charging the Battery:1.First of all, it is important to remember that Red is positive and Black is negative in order to avoid any accidents such as short-circuits and nasty shocks.2.The charger should be compatible with the motorcycle battery, and give a greater output than the battery voltage but not too high.3.Make sure the connections are clean and the electrolyte is at the upper level, and dont fill the cells up to the very top of the battery.4.You can either use an optimizer on the battery which can effectively switch off the battery when its charged and prevents overheating, or disconnect it manually.5.It is recommended to put your battery on charge every two or three weeks.6.An upper and lower level battery should have all the cells on the upper level, not over and never under the lower level.7.For topping off the low cells, use only distilled water.8.The minimum charge for a new batter should be at least for 8 hours.9.If you have a dry battery, fill the cells slowly and leave the battery for around half an hour.
